Head of Midwifery Julie Fogarty and RCM Steward Debbie Stowell-Smith signed the charter, which is encouraging all NHS organisations to improve midwives’; student midwives’ and maternity support workers’ health, safety and wellbeing at work.

They were joined by Regional RCM officer Liz Stubbs on a walkabout of the Maternity Unit on Wednesday 11 August to promote the campaign, before the signing took place.

Julie said: “Caring for You compliments our midwifery philosophy of the Countess so we have the seven c’s and this year we’re looking at being kind to one another.

“As Head of Midwifery I feel that this Caring for You Charter will compliment the work that we’ve already started earlier in the year.”

Debbie added: “As one of the RCM Stewards for the Chester branch, we’re just really keen to look after midwives and make sure that their health and wellbeing is as much of a priority as looking after the women.

“It’s vital that they are healthy and happy so they can give good quality care to women and their families.”
