Specialist nurses from the Countess of Chester Hospital are hosting the next annual Stoma Care Open Day at The Masonic Hall, Ellesmere Port, on Wednesday 24 April.
The event, which will run from 1-5pm, showcases the latest products available as well as giving stoma patients and their loved ones an opportunity to socialise.
This year the open day also includes a presentation from dietitians offering nutritional advice and an armchair yoga class.
Maria Brown, Associate Practitioner in Stoma Care, said: “This event is part of the continuing care we provide to our patients. We really get great feedback every year because it’s not only a chance to see what products are available, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to meet others who’ve gone through the same experiences.”
Visitors can also find out more about the Stoma Support Group, which meets on a monthly basis at The Countess, offering stoma patients a chance to meet regularly and help with ongoing improvements to care.
Ken Croft, who is part of the Stoma Support Group, said: “Most people in the support group spend all year waiting for this day.”
